Dan joined the club alongside fellow student Gareth Love in early November 2011. Made his debut in the 0-0 draw with Halifax in the same month and went on to score his first goal for the club in the away defeat to Burton Albion in February 2012. Primarily a right-back by trade, Gilbert has been used in a more advanced role for FC, with his crossing ability proving a welcome addition to the team's attacking armoury.
